A good George II period side chair in Cuban mahogany
English, c. 1730
The well-curved back with scrolled and dished toprail above a figured mahogany veneered vase-shaped splat, above a padded drop-in seat covered in floral damask, above the shaped apron, raised on well-shaped cabriole front legs carved with C-scrolls and ending in pad feet, and splayed and chamfered back supports, united by a turned stretcher.
Very good state of preservation, original surface, fantastic colour and patination. Later drop-in seat frame.
