An unusual George III Sheraton period small telescopic table in mahogany, adjustable in height, of particularly elegant design, closely related to the Gillows sketch, dated 1792. English, c. 1790's
This delightful little telescopic table has the octagonal mahogany-veneered tilting top with rosewood cross-banding and black-and-white boxwood stringing, above a slender telescopic turned column supported by three splayed ebony strung legs raised on tapering toupe´ feet. The telescopic adjustable mechanism has a screw at the top of the column, enabling the top to be raised and lowered, and, if tilted, it might had been used as a pole screen.
Very good antique condition, glorious patina and minor signs of old well-executed repairs.
Dimensions:
Height: 26.25 in / 66.5 cm
Width: 16 in / 40.5 cm
Depth: 13 in / 33 cm
