A superbly decorative Chinoiserie vase lamp, meticulously hand-painted with oriental scenes and auspicious symbold on a coral-red ground, in the 18th century style, mounted as lamp on a turned base decorated to match.
Why we like it
We love the superb decorative effect of the meticulous hand-painting of the whimsical oriental scenes, very much in the tradition of the 18th century fashion for Chinese objects, a craze that epitomised in such creations as the Kinaslott, a small pavillion built for the Queen of Sweden at Drottningholm.
