This amazingly dramatic scene from a beautiful ancient Greek love story is very well executed on a rather grand scale to a wonderful decorative effect.
This painting has a signature 'P.J.Antoine', possibly that of the Belgian artist Pierre Joseph Antoine (1840-1913).
