A pair of very large blue and white decorated Delft vase lamps. Dutch, 19th century. Shades are included in price.
Why we like them
We love this charming pair of vases, that are now fitted as lamps, for their perfectly imperfect look, impressive scale and charming blue and white pallette. Created as a more affordable imitation of the prestigious and costly Chinese export porcelain, they are somewhat naïvely hand-painted with naval scenes and foliate decoration, very much in the tradition of the 18th century fashion for Chinese objects, a craze that epitomised in such creations as the Kinaslott, a small pavillion built for the Queen of Sweden at Drottningholm.
Condition
Minor signs of age to the vases.
