A very fine Crescent Ware porcelain eight place tea set, finely decorated with gold over royal purple ground, retailed by Phillips of New Bond Street, London. England, circa 1908–1920.
Why we like it
A rare and very decorative colour combination, together with elegant, Regency era shape, make this set a fabulous specimen.
Phillips were London retailers of china and glass ware - their advertisments state that they were established in 1760. The firm was recorded trading at 43-44 New Bond Street in 1908-1929.
The set includes eight tea cups with saucers, a cream jug with saucer, a cake plate and a pudding plate with dome cover. Excellent condition with minor rubbing to gold on the creamer and occasional small marks on the purple ground on all plates and dome cover.
