An elegant burr walnut and walnut stool or bench in the Queen Anne style, raised on finely carved cabriole legs and with seat covered salmon and silver linen-silk damask. England, circa 1920's.
Why we like it
The walnut has aged gracefully, developing that warm, honeyed colour and patina that come only with time. The carvings at the knees are particularly well done, giving this stool an elegance that sets it apart from many similar pieces.
The cabriole legs are wonderfully slender, giving it a light, graceful presence. It works just as well in a drawing room as beside a dressing table.
