About this object
A superb early Regency period library bergère or armchair in mahogany, in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster and London. English, c. 1810.
Why we like it
This rare and sophisticated model of the generously proportioned classic Gillow bergere features the caned panel back and leather seat. Made of fine quality mahogany throughout, which has patinated to a pleasing warm colour.
