There are colours that belong wholly to the Salentine summer, and this is one of them: a deep, dusk-blushed rose — the colour of a rosato poured at sundown, pressed from the ancient Negroamaro vines that have ripened on this earth for centuries; of warm Galatina sandstone at the golden hour; of windfall apricots and petals loosened by the heat of a long afternoon. Woven in a cotton-linen jacquard, this Galatina tablecloth carries that colour through a damask of subtle relief — a play of matte and sheen that shifts as the light moves, never quite the same from one hour to the next.
This is a cloth made for gathering. Linen lends it the gentle, lived-in crush we have always loved — the subtle rumple of a tablecloth that has been laid, and loved, and laid again — while cotton gives it weight, so it falls in generous folds toward the sun-warmed earth below. It is equally at home beneath crystal and candlelight indoors, or thrown over a table set among the olives, the oleander and the wild rosemary, where it seems to have grown up alongside the land itself.
Offered as a strictly limited edition: when the run is gone, it will not return. Like the most cherished things at Peacock’s Finest, it is meant to be passed down — softening, season upon season, into something even lovelier than the day it first met your table.
