There are colours that belong wholly to summer, and this is one of them: a deep, dusk-blushed rose, the shade of an English garden at the golden hour, of windfall apricots warming in a porcelain bowl, of petals loosened by the heat of a long afternoon. Woven in a cotton-linen jacquard, this Galatina tablecloth carries that colour through a damask of subtle relief — a play of matte and sheen that shifts as the light moves, never quite the same from one hour to the next.
This is a cloth made for gathering. Linen lends it the gentle, lived-in crush we have always loved — the subtle rumple of a tablecloth that has been laid, and loved, and laid again — while cotton gives it weight, so it falls in generous folds to the grass below. It is equally at home beneath crystal coupes and Sèvres porcelain indoors, or thrown over a garden table among the roses, the snapdragons and the lilac, where it seems to have grown up alongside the borders themselves.
Offered as a strictly limited edition, thus when the run is gone it will not return. Like the most cherished things at Peacock's Finest, it is meant to be passed down — softening, season upon season, into something even lovelier than the day it first met your table.
