A superb quality, wonderfully decorative pottery vase after an Ancient Greek example of Archaic style, and exquisitely modelled as a cheeky bearded Satyr’s head. Now fitted as lamp.
Why We Like It
Rendered with astonishing archeological accuracy, this lamp is undoubtedly a head-turner. A wonderful example of superb craftsmanship, informed by a passion for the Ancient decorative arts.
A similarly decorated ancient cup is held at the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio.
Satyrs occupy a delightful moral grey zone in Greek mythology — being not gods and not men, they are creatures gloriously devoted to pleasure, often associated with Dionysos, the god of wine.
The lamp will be wired for the country of destination. Please note, that the vintage shade shown on the pictures is a styling suggestion and is not included.
