A rare and super charming pair of Welsh primitive vernacular low stools or benches in ash and/or elm of most glorious natural patination.
Probably West Wales, circa 1850–1900.
Why we like them
We love the rare, diminutive scale of these charming miniature benches, their untouched patina, rich in history, but above all – their timeless, minimalist design, that could conceivably exist in Ancient Greece or Rome. Qualifying somewhere between furniture and objects due to their compact size, these little benches can be surprisingly versatile: useful to rest your feet, to put a drink or a stack of books by the side of your favourite armchair. Their design, literally stripped to bare essentials, will fit perfectly into a contemporary or eclectic interior, in a rustic or urban context alike.
