A very smart early 19th century side or writing table of excellent golden colour and patination, attributable to Gillows of Lancaster and London and branded with 'S' under an Earl's coronet, the insignia of the Earls Spencers. English, circa 1820.

We love the elegant simplicity of this table, its slender design and splendid colour and patina.
Tables of similar design and quality were sold from Althorp, the seat of the Earl Spencer, at Christies London, The Althorp Attic Sale, 8 July 2010.
