A charming pair of blue and white Chinoiserie decorated Delft vase lamps. Dutch, 18th century. Shades not included.
Why we like them
We love this charming pair of vases, that are now fitted as lamps, for their perfectly imperfect look, abundant with old chips and cracks, perfectly suitable for a creaky country cottage. Created as a more affordable imitation of the prestigious and costly Chinese export porcelain, they are somewhat naïvely hand-painted with whimsical oriental scenes, very much in the tradition of the 18th century fashion for Chinese objects, a craze that epitomised in such creations as the Kinaslott, a small pavillion built for the Queen of Sweden at Drottningholm.
Condition
Multiple chips, cracks and historic restorations to vases.
