A fine quality 19th century Louis XVI style neoclassical desk in beautifully figured mahogany, enriched with brass mounts.
French, circa 1860.
Why we like it
Its austere neoclassical design and rare broad proportions make this fine desk a rare find. Intended as a centerpiece with the back finished to the same high standard as the front – unmistakable sign of great quality. The pull-out slides at either end of the top make extra room (24 in) for lamps or documents when needed. The tooled leather top is of particularly nice quality.
Very useful piece with its nine deep drawers and a generous legroom between the pedestals and under the drawers.
